What is a Mercedes A Service?
Own a Mercedes? The last thing you want is for your luxury vehicle to break down because of a minor fault which could have been easily avoided.
This is what happens when you don’t service your Mercedes regularly.
A regular Mercedes service keeps your vehicle in prime condition, preventing minor faults before they worsen and become more costly in the process.
The longer you leave between services, the higher your risk of breakdown. Breakdowns are the last thing you want; they’re stressful and dangerous.
To help your Mercedes remain in top condition, Mercedes has designed two main types of service:
- Mercedes A Service
- Mercedes B Service
Regardless of the type of service you’re due, you should always stick to your Mercedes servicing schedule. The Mercedes A Service and B Service are necessary to ensure your vehicle is roadworthy and keep your Mercedes warranty intact.
When Mrs J visited Gent’s Garage, she was unsure which service her Mercedes A Class needed. It’s easy to lose track; we’ve all been there.
Thankfully, our Mercedes experts have the experience, skills, and technical know-how to work with any Mercedes model. And we’ve got access to the same information the dealerships do. We can solve any issues thrown our way.
As local Mercedes experts, we informed Mrs J what type of Mercedes service her vehicle needs immediately.
At Gent’s Garage, we thoroughly inspect your vehicle with every Mercedes service. Your safety is our priority, and you always get better value than the main Mercedes dealership.

What’s the difference between Mercedes A service and Mercedes B service?
At Gent’s Garage, we’re often asked, “what’s the difference between the Mercedes A Service and B Service?”.
Here are the main differences between them:
Once your vehicle reaches one year old, you’ll usually need the Mercedes A Service. The A Service is repeated every two years, depending on your mileage.
Mercedes A Service includes:
- Oil filter replacement
- Synthetic motor oil replacement
- Tyre inflation check & correction
- Brake component inspection
- Reset maintenance counter
On the other hand, the Mercedes B Service is best suited for older Mercedes vehicles (or if you’ve driven a lot of miles) and is more thorough.
Mercedes B Service includes:
- Synthetic motor oil replacement
- Oil filter replacement
- Reset maintenance counter
- Cabin dust/combination filter replacement
- Brake component inspection
When Mrs J visited Gent’s Garage, she was uncertain which service her Mercedes required.
Luckily, our Mercedes experts have access to the same Mercedes manufacturer information as the main dealerships; we knew exactly what her A Class needed.
What happened next?
After checking the Mercedes digital service records, our servicing specialists discovered Mrs J’s car required the Mercedes A Service.
But, during our free safety inspection, we found an issue with the A Class’s wheel alignment.
Over time, your wheels can become misaligned. It’s a common problem caused by potholes, curbs, speed bumps, and debris. While it may not be a serious issue initially, it can create drivability problems and uneven tyre wear.
The last thing you need is your Mercedes pulling to one side; it can be dangerous.
If left unchecked, it can worsen, leaving you with a costly fix and a higher risk of an accident.
Fortunately for Mrs J, the misalignment was caught early, and no severe damage had occurred. However, her right-hand front tyre was significantly, and the tread was under the legal limit.
Driving around with below-the-limit tread isn’t only dangerous, but it can leave you in trouble with the police.
Solving the issue
To stop the Mercedes A-Class from developing further issues, it was crucial to replace the worn tyre and realign the vehicle’s wheels.
But, before our Mercedes servicing specialists began the fixes, they rang Mrs J to discuss the issues found during the Mercedes A Service.
At Gent’s Garage, you’re always kept in the know from the moment you enter our doors.
After our discussion, Mrs J gave us the green light to replace the worn tyre and complete a 4 wheel alignment on her Mercedes A-Class.
We replaced the Mercedes A Class’s worn tyre so the vehicle is roadworthy again and won’t land Mrs J in trouble with the police. Once the tyre was replaced, we set about completing a 4 wheel alignment to ensure the issue didn’t happen again.
During every Mercedes A Service, your vehicle receives a thorough safety inspection to guarantee your vehicle is roadworthy. We go beyond Mercedes servicing guidelines, giving your vehicle the luxury level of care it needs.
Mrs J’s A Class passed our safety inspection with flying colours, and we could confidently give her keys back.
She was over the moon to have her vehicle back within 4 hours, something that isn’t always possible with the local Mercedes dealership. At Gent’s Garage, you get better-than-dealership servicing for better-than-dealership value.
